Divorce

July 12, 2011

…..? you ask, before you remember she’s no longer there.  As bad as it was the loss is still great scarring over, but tender yet and as heavy upon you as original sin.  An amputation of sorts; it takes a while to really understand that the member is gone.

The relief is wonderful, when the struggle is over, especially if you persevered, refused to relent, kept trying to knot the bitter ends after the line’s rotted.  Like the man standing ready at the pumps when there’s green water out the porthole, you are elated to finally get the hell out.

But the vessel’s lost and you can’t help, sitting in your room picking an album with no one’s opinion to consider but your own, catching a chill.
